Today was a local day.... started by meeting with a man from Paruro about three hours SE of Cusco. He heard about Desana and asked us to consider helping a small high school by purchasing desks or chairs and tables for the 78 students.? Paruro google map

Later in the day we purchased electrical wire to run between two housing areas in Paucarbamba. We had to look for the best prices. Between Carlos, Marily, and Dennis we finally found the solution. As most projects run, this one was about 50% higher than the estimate we first received. Oh well...... the families that lost their homes in the flood and now live on higher ground currently do not have electricity. With Desana's help these families will be able to see at night and use electric appliances (what few they have).

Carnival lunchCarnival in Cusco. We had a nice Sunday with friends. Once again, we filled a pew at the main cathedral for the 9am mass. After church, we purchased a couple water guns and some sprite for the children...... No I did not get one for me.?

Gary's father, Hugo, arranged our lunch....sheeps head, sausage, potatoes, corn, broth, and a peach. It is the traditional meal for Carnival. Kathy and I shared most of our meal with the others at the table. Yes, we were the ONLY gringos in the place. Everyone was friendly and we had a good time.

Carlos chopping treeGood morning brothers and sisters

Let me share with you one beautiful event on yesterday in the little village of Poucarbamba villages, were our support is. As a symbol of the those people are pulling themselves together after the flooding, they organized the first carnival festival to Desana and as were invited to be part of this event.

My friends Gorge and katy started with decoration of the tree with toys and some others gifts, same as a Christmas tree but it is placed outside and it is a little bigger. The villagers cooked one delicious meal called Puchero, we also had a lot Chicha, which in our concept could supplies the beer, wind of sangria in a party.
