People Line Up for Meals at Carlos Gibaja's "Soup Kitchen". We just received more photos from Leander showing the flooding and devastation in Ollantaytambo.? (Cusco Region - Peru)? Desana volunteers are preparing to head to Peru next Thursday - February 4th.? Carlos Gibaja had a food kitchen that was feeding poor children in Ollantaytambo but has expanded his operation to help other surrounding communities.? Desana is sending money to Carlos to purchase the food necessary to feed these people.? It takes about $1 US per day to feed a person one meal.? Since Carlos opened his kitchen to more and more homeless victims, he is spending roughly $350 per day.? Desana would like to raise $4,000 to help these unfortunate people.? We need to get them food and water and safe dry places to sleep. HELPING NEIGHBORS (Carlos, Christian, Washi, Rogelio and others are working round the clock. They have moved 100's of people and their prized possessions to higher ground.? It's a hard job compounded by the fact that several people won't listen, they don't want to leave their homes and animals, ... and then its too late. ?
? The photo with people lifting the mattress was taken between the curve in the road where Christian lives and Path of the Heart foodline. The foodline building is OK. and should be fine. It is quite high up.? Tastayock, Willoq, and all the other communities/homes for the Children of the Sun are safe. Please send? them Light and keep them in your prayers.
?? This river traverses Peru.?? We will keep you posted. In the mean time please send prayers to Mother Earth and the Spirit of the Sacred River.? Dr.Sharon Forrest
Our good friend Nelli Mejia sent us pictures of the destruction in Cusco.
School We Gave a Party for Last Year - Destroyed This is a school that Desana gave a party for last summer.? It was full of happy children.? We hired a clown to entertain them.? Fortunately, school is not in session at this time in Peru.? They start back in April so there were no students inside.
This is Nelli's neighborhood.? Her neighbors home was destroyed.? We are praying for Nellie's safety and for the protection of her home.
