The 'Shelter Lady' June 2011 Report

KHS_JUN20111Nizhny Tagil Russia (Kind Heart Shelter) - We have finished the school year with two groups of children at the Kind Heart Shelter. The older children are finishing school or already attending professional schools. We can see some great changes in the young men and women that have been raised attending the shelter. Many of them used to be juvenile delinquents but now they are trying to break the vicious cycle their parents started. They want to continue schooling or find a job. We always try to help them even after they graduate from our Club. We send reference letters to professional schools or community colleges of their choice and support them in any other way we can think of.

We continually pray for our children and know that the Lord does not leave them and corrects their paths.

KHS_JUN20113As for the younger group, they have been an incredible joy this year. We have so much fun every time we gather – reading from the Bible or just reading books, doing crafts, playing outside and inside. We always help them with their homework and make sure children do not skip classes.

On the 1st of June we had a party on the occasion of Children's Day. Most of the children have successfully completed school year and only a handful with have to attend summer school. Children had a special concert with songs, poems and dances and even created a bulletin board about their year at Kind Heart.

On the 6th of June we started our annual summer camp. Kids come in at 10 AM every morning, we do sports, play games, and sometimes even take them to the movies. We are able to feed them twice a day during the camp and even send them home with some food for the evening meal. This camp will last until July 1 and we hope to do it once more from July 11 to August 5. It would not be possible but for Desana!

KHS_JUN20112It is our goal to visit all the families of our children during the summer, talk to the parents and learn more about their problems. We have a few more children on the waiting list, so we plan to visit their families as well. Any time we have some extra money, we deliver groceries to the needy children in the area.
