KHSAnother year has passed at the Kind Heart Shelter. Lots of things have happened – both good and bad. After the older kids had graduated from our Club, we started a group of little ones. Child Protection Services gave us a list of families that need help "to stay afloat". There is no way we can take all the needy ones in – our little apartment can house a limited number of children. Right now there are 23 children in the younger group. Each one of them has some problems – their intellectual development is always below the norm, they find it hard to make friends, do not know how to behave themselves, can often act aggressively towards other children. It does not take much to understand that it is only by love and care that we are able to help and cure them. Most of them have never seen any love at home and for them to know that there is a place in the world where they are welcome is a great revelation and help. We do not force God onto them but always explain that He does care, He does love and provide for us through the hands of other people.

KHS_JUN20111Nizhny Tagil Russia (Kind Heart Shelter) - We have finished the school year with two groups of children at the Kind Heart Shelter. The older children are finishing school or already attending professional schools. We can see some great changes in the young men and women that have been raised attending the shelter. Many of them used to be juvenile delinquents but now they are trying to break the vicious cycle their parents started. They want to continue schooling or find a job. We always try to help them even after they graduate from our Club. We send reference letters to professional schools or community colleges of their choice and support them in any other way we can think of.

We continually pray for our children and know that the Lord does not leave them and corrects their paths.

Most of the children coming to the shelter are elementary school students aged 5 to 9. Each one of them has a story to tell and this, too, can be seen in their eyes. Kind Heart Shelter for them is a place that gives stability and hope for the better. When there is no food at home, no money to buy school supplies for the new school year, no clean clothes or any clothes for that matter, children come here where they are loved and taken care of. Hot meals, assistance with homework, laundry, games, music, all sprinkled with a generous portion of love - this is what brings them all here... to a small 2-room apartment on the first floor of a regular old apartment building in Nizhny Tagil. Thank you, Desana, for continuing to give these children a ray of hope.

ps: 4 years ago Desana sent money to the shelter for the first time and ever since then has faithfully provided for these children.
